The History of the Gate Keepers Motorcycle Club grew from the idea of a member who wanted something more than the average motorcycle club offered. In the Fall of 1998 our founder met with five other guys at a smoky VFW hall and explained his vision.  The six decided they were all looking for the same thing, a bond; a brotherhood was formed and the Mother Chapter, Gate Keepers New London County came to be.  That first winter was a long one as the six men met month after month wondering at times if they were the only six guys who felt as they did.  It was decided then, that if six Gate Keepers were all that was meant to be, then six it would be. We would not compromise our vision.  New members would be carefully selected men of character who were committed to their family, country, careers but were looking for a few brothers to ride who they could trust with their wife, their daughter, their bike or their paycheck who also knew how to party and ride their butts off.

As it were, most of the five Charter Members are also veterans. After the attack on our nation on September 11, 2001 the membership realized they had made a serious omission by not including the military, the Nation’s Gate Keepers.  The brotherhood became a club that allowed military entity and it was not long before men made of  “the right stuff” from the military community began to join our ranks.  We decided from the start, the club would not have many rules. If you respect the men you ride with and treat each as a brother, with respect, then you “don’t need no stinking rules”. We ride, we party and we are there for each other when a brother needs help.  We are aware of what happens to one Gate Keeper affects us all, as well as the actions of one reflect on the entire brotherhood.   We are proud of the “Dog and Rockers” we wear on our backs but are prouder still, of the men who wear our colors. Our founder surrounded himself with quality people from the start and they in turn recruited quality members and the brotherhood has grown. With New London County we have now, three other chapters in Connecticut and one in Massachusetts. The second chapter opened in Middlesex County and that is us  and it is thriving. Also there is a new chapter in Windham County and in May 2002 a forth chapter opened in Worcester County, Massachusetts, the Central Mass Chapter

We also sponsor a couple fund raising Poker Runs each year in part to appease our consciences for enjoying ourselves so much. In our short history the three chapters have raised mony for a New London/Norwich, Soup Kitchen, a scholarship fund in honor of a New London County Marine who was killed in action in the war with Iraq and that grew when we raised the money to transport his relatives to his funeral from Thailand . Not bad fro what we truly believed in.
